Lightweight Compost-Based Potting Mix

Fort Light has all the benefits of a compost-based potting mix plus additional drainage from the addition of perlite. A complete germinating and transplant mix, Fort Light is ideal for growers using small-celled plastic flats or needing a lightweight mix. 

Fort Light is crafted from mature compost to provide balanced nutrition from germination to transplant. A favorite among flower growers, Fort Light can provide the ideal conditions to germinate and grow even the trickiest seeds. 

Fort Light or Fort Vee? While both are excellent choices for seed starting and potting up, most growers have a preference between the two. You may want to choose Fort Light if you are looking for a lighter-weight soil mix that will drain more quickly, especially in smaller-celled trays. 

All ingredients used in Fort Light have been approved for certified organic production. Vermont Compost Company’s composting process meets the National Organic Program (NOP) standard requirements and their products are approved by Vermont Organic Farmers (VOF), the certification branch of NOFA-VT.

The 2 yard sling option is available to our customers in the New England states. Any customers outside New England can call for LTL freight quotes. The 60 quart bag is too heavy to ship via UPS or FedEx. The 20 quart bag ranges in UPS/FedEx rate from $25 to $60 per bag depending on distance from Massachusetts.
