Langwater Farm is a 65 acre Certified Organic farm growing mixed vegetable, fruit, flower, and herb crops. As a family‐run business, Langwater works an experienced crew to keep their community supplied with fresh organic produce year‐round using small‐scale sustainable agriculture practices. Farm managers Kevin and Kate O’Dwyer bring their passion and experience in sustainable farming to Langwater, teaching their three young children along the way.
Langwater Farm sources a number of growing supplies from Progressive Grower each year. First among these are tomato trellising supplies. “Tomatoes are our biggest and most ‘favoritest’ crop,” notes farm partner Rory O’Dwyer. “We LOVE tomatoes! We buy all our stakes and string from Progressive Grower, which keep the tomato patch upright and accessible, and producing heavily.” Langwater also starts off their growing season with greenhouse supplies. Selling a high volume of bedding plants, veggie and herb starts, and other spring plantings for home gardeners, they order lots of pots and flats from Progressive Grower at the beginning of the season. Kreher’s composted chicken manure is another of Langwater’s frequently ordered items. Made from composted poultry manure with no other ingredients, Kreher’s fertilizers are ideal for use on vegetables, trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf.
Langwater runs a farmstand open for the season, Tuesdays – Sundays (closed Mondays) from 10am – 6pm. They also hold PYO for various crops depending on weather & availability and a CSA program with pickups throughout the greater Boston area. In addition they are fixtures at several farmers markets spring through fall Harvard Science Center, Somerville at Davis Square , Brookline at Coolidge Corner, and in Attleboro at Capron Park.
